About Heat Shrink Tubing
Heat Shrink Tubing is often referred to as Shrink Band, Shrink Tubing and Shrinkable Spaghetti Tubing. Heat shrink tubing is useful in a wide variety of applications, such as electrical insulation, color coding, splicing, termination, wire marking, mechanical protection, cable bundling, weather sealing and corrosion, moisture & abrasion protection. If you repair or restore electronics the use of heat shrink tubing is "a must". Insulating the leads of capacitors, resistors and other electronics parts and wire help reduce the chance of dangerous short circuits. Short circuits can result in (potentially fatal) electric shocks and fires. Also, if you radio, TV or other electrical appliance develops a short ... it will work poorly or not at all.

How to Choose Heat Shrink Tubing
Firstly, you will want to be sure you are getting the correct size/diameter of heat shrink tubing. If you are working on electronics an ideal size is 1mm (1/16") as this size is large enough to easily slide over capacitor and resistor leads, yet will shrink to a "skin-tight" fit once heated. For various repairs and bundling wires the 1/8", 1/4" and 1/2" diameter sizes are often needed. Although black is the easiest and least expensive color of tubing to find, using colored heat shrink to color code wires and leads adds a real professional touch to your work. Color coded leads and wires result in a neater layout that is much easier to troubleshoot. To properly color code your restorations you will need red, yellow, green, white, gray, blue, purple, brown, orange and of course lots of black heat shrink tubing. Make sure the tubing you use is a flame retardant type and is UL/CSA safety approved. To help ensure you are getting high quality product, use tubing that is made by an ISO certified manufacturer. Beware of older heat shrink tubing ! ... some types of heat shrink contain ingredients/chemicals and give of dangerous fumes when heated. Use a new heat shrink that is environmentally friendly. Lastly, be kind to your wallet...there are a number of good brands and suppliers of heat-shrink... but prices vary dramatically (for virtually identical products), so do some comparative shopping ( you will like our below US$ prices ).

Why Choose this Heat Shrink Tubing Kit
You will receive the correct sizes/diameters of heat shrink tubing that you need. If you are working on radios/TVs/AMPs a must-have size is 1/16" as this size is large enough to easily slide over capacitor and resistor leads, yet will shrink to a "skin-tight" fit once heated. For various repairs and bundling wires 1/8", 1/4" and 1/2" diameter is often needed. Although black is the most commonly used color of tubing ... using colored heat shrink to color code wires and leads adds a real professional touch to your work. Color coded leads and wires result in a neater layout and makes to troubleshooting much easier. To properly color code your restorations this kit includes ll colors... red, yellow, green, white, gray, blue, purple, brown, orange, clear and black. The tubing in this kit is a flame retardant and is UL/CSA safety approved and ISO certified. Beware of other heat shrink tubing ! ... some types of heat shrink contain ingredients/chemicals and give of dangerous fumes when heated. The heat-shrink tubing in this kit is safe for you to use and is environmentally friendly.
